Mariah’s Two New Song Titles Revealed Christmas LP

Last week, legendary diva Mariah Carey had a massive recording session with a full live band at Fox Studios in Los Angeles. This is where she had been hard at work on her brand new Christmas album ‘Merry Christmas II You’. Mariah Daily Journal have also exclusively revealed the titles of two new and original Christmas songs, both co-written with Marc Shaiman of Broadway’s ‘Hairspray’ fame, which we reported on previously…

During that session, Mimi recorded five holiday songs (two new and three traditional songs). The titles have been unwrapped as ‘Christmas Time Is In The Air Again’ (described as a “really nice midtempo number”) and ‘One Child’. Although the songs may have been recorded, there is no official confirmation that they will make the final cut of the album. The project is scheduled to hit stores on Tuesday, November 2nd. Interesting stuff!

MC Clarifies Rumored Title of Her New Album

Mariah Carey set the record straight on “Merry Christmas II You” which was widely believed as the name of her upcoming studio album. The rumored title was first spread by Rap-Up and quickly picked up by music bloggers, including her husband Nick Cannon who posted it on his Twitter.

In order to avoid further misleading information, the “We Belong Together” hitmaker clarified the news soon afterwards. “That’s not a confirmed title Dearest heart! I never said what kind of an album it is My Love! What? : ),” she posted on her own page in reply to Cannon’s tweet.

It’s almost a year since Mariah Carey released “Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel” in late September 2009, and news about her new album has floated on the web for quite sometime amid her pregnancy rumor. Although details of the album remain scarce, she indeed has started songwriting.

When visiting Brazil last month for a concert, she wrote on Twitter, “Ola! Just landed in Brazil! writing lyrics in the car on the way to the hotel w /a few nice big lenses + cars cutting us. Off to bed affap when I get to the hotel! Can’t wait to see the fans @ the show after I get a morsel and some sleep! Love you Brazil!”

No Latinos Make “VH1’s Top 100″ List

Sigh… we were so excited to get a sneak peek at VH1’s list of the 100 Greatest Artists of All Time – but our hearts sank when we realized that not a single Latin musician made the cut. Well, you could count Mariah Carey, who barely squeaked by at number 94.

Putting aside the fact that Latinos have made hugely important contributions to music here in the United States – from jazz to hip-hop – we have quite a few verifiable superstars who have undoubtedly influenced the sounds of the younger artists who made the cut.

Let’s start with legendary rock star Santana. There would be no Guns-N-Roses if the Chicano guitar god had never released his iconic Black Magic Woman. What about the complete oversight of Shakira? If Beyonce and Alicia Keys (who we also love) made the list, surely the Colombian pop star – who has morphed into a global phenomenon – should get a nod.

The artists were chosen by a panel of music experts and musicians including; Alicia Keys, Ozzy Osbourne, Sean “Diddy” Combs, Iggy Pop, Nas, Rob Halford (Judas Priest), Michael Diamond (Beastie Boys), Daryl Hall, John Oates, Gene Simmons (KISS), Adam Levine (Maroon Five), 50 Cent, Nelly Furtado, Mandy Moore, Carrie Underwood, and Adam Clayton (U2).

Mariah Puts Nick In Check On Twitter

Maria Carey berated her husband Nick Cannon after he tweeted the title of her upcoming Christmas album to his followers.

“@Mariah Carey’s New Album Titled ‘Merry Christmas II You’, Due Nov. 2″, he posted yesterday. To which Carey immediately responded,

” @NickCannon that’s not a confirmed title Dearest heart! I never said what kind of an album it is My Love! What?”

Carey has been hinted that she is working on a new project, but never said what it was.

She released her first Christmas album in 1994 titled Merry Christmas with the smash hit “All I Want For Christmas Is You” on it.

So, it seems logical she would release another holiday hit record. And if rumors are true that the songbird is pregnant, a holiday release means no taxing tour.

Nick shared that the album was due out November 2nd and posted a link to his website where he shares that celebrity photographer David LaChapelle shot the cover art.

Mariah has not confirmed her pregnancy yet, and we have a feeling Nick won’t be tweeting that news if he knows what’s good for him.

Mariah Carey: Husband Inspired Perfume

Mariah Carey’s new perfume was inspired by her husband Nick Cannon. The singer says Nick’s proposal gave her the ideas to create Lollipop Bling, her new “sweet” fragrance.

She said: “The inspiration for Lollipop Bling was Nick’s marriage proposal to me. He first surprised me with a ring-pop – romantic, fun and young-at-heart – like me!”

Mariah is releasing Lollipop Bang through Elizabeth Arden in conjunction with Topps Candy Company next month.

The singer was recently described by Nick as the “diva of all divas”.

The rapper-and-presenter said his superstar spouse lives up to her demanding reputation but that’s one of the things he loves about her.

Nick revealed: “Imagine if you’ve got the diva of all divas. If we’ve got to be somewhere at five or six o’clock, I tell her it’s time to go at noon so she gets those five hours to do what she needs to do.

“But we’re both kids at heart. She is the funniest person ever and she has a great sense of humour. We connect at a spiritual level.”

Exclusive: Mariah Christmas Album Title, Release Date

Mariah Carey may or may not be pregnant, but one thing’s for sure, she will be delivering a bundle of joy this holiday season. The sequel to the pop songbird’s Christmas album has been given an official title and due date.

Rap-Up.com has exclusively learned that Mimi’s upcoming holiday project will be called Merry Christmas II You. The II represents the follow-up to 1994’s multi-platinum Merry Christmas album, which spawned the now-classic “All I Want for Christmas Is You.” The new offering is scheduled for a November 2 release and will include original material as well as covers of holiday classics.

An accompanying DVD will also be released the same day, but there are currently no details on what exactly it will contain. The packaging was shot in the spring by famed photographer David LaChapelle and features a festive setting with fake snow, tinsel, and wooden reindeers.

Mariah’s manager Chris Lighty tweeted that she is working with the Home Shopping Network (HSN) to promote the project, which is guaranteed to be the perfect stocking stuffer.

Jessica Simpson, Mariah Ready Christmas Albums

Los Angeles, CA, United States (AHN) – It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas for two pop divas…again. Mariah Carey and Jessica Simpson are both planning on releasing their second holiday albums this year.

Mariah is releasing her first holiday album since 1994’s “Merry Christmas,” which has been certified 5x platinum in the U.S. Carey, who created a modern yuletide classic in “All I Want For Christmas Is You,” is set to feature a remix of the track on her upcoming album, which is set to feature both original songs and covers.

Carey is teaming up with her former musical director and “American Idol” judge Randy Jackson on the project, who also produced one of her most underrated album tracks “Subtle Invitation” off 2003’s “Charmbracelet.” She’s also working with Broadway composer Marc Shaiman, who helped bring the music of “Hairspray” and the upcoming “Catch Me If You Can” to the stage.

Jessica Simpson is also set to release her second holiday collection. Her first, “Rejoyce: The Christmas Album,” made much less of an impact than Carey’s. It was originally released as a 7-Eleven exclusive EP (yes, that 7-Eleven), and later fleshed out to a fuller album. It featured duets with then-husband Nick Lachey and sister Ashlee Simpson.

“Rejoyce,” Simpson’s best-selling album since 2003’s “In This Skin,” featured covers of songs like “O Holy Night” and “What Christmas Means To Me” and an original Simpson co-write, “It’s Christmas Time Again.” Simpson is currently in the studio recording the new album, on the fast-track to hit shelves before December.

Carey and Simpson aren’t the only divas feeling the holiday spirit this year. Katharine McPhee is following up her sophomore effort “Unbroken” with her first seasonal collection. Tentatively titled “Christmas Is the Time…To Say I Love You,” McPhee’s album is set to feature an original self-written ballad along with classic covers. Check out her “I’ll Be Home For Christmas” cover, released last year, for a taste.

Although not confirmed, Susan Boyle is reportedly readying a holiday album to follow-up last year’s smash “I Dreamed a Dream” album. Annie Lennox is also set to release her first holiday collection, “A Christmas Cornucopia,” this fall.

Nick Wants To ‘Octomom It’ With Mariah

“I love kids. I’m all about kids!” Nick Cannon gushed at the 2010 Arthur Ashe Kids’ Day in Flushing, N.Y. on Saturday. OK, so maybe he was referring to the kids who were there to learn about tennis ahead of the US Open. But when Wonderwall caught up with the “America’s Got Talent” host about music and life with Mariah Carey, he made it pretty clear that he’s ready to be a dad.

On the latest rumors that Mariah may be pregnant:

“People have been saying the same thing for like two and a half years … She wants to keep as much privacy as she possibly can.”

On how he’ll raise his kids:

“I want to be brought up the way I was brought up. I got to be someone who’s stern but still fun loving and knows how to have a good time … You have to make sure that you ground them. Maybe I should go let them live with my grandmother so they don’t experience all the craziness.”

On having a boy versus having a girl:

“I just would want something healthy. It would be great to have a girl until she turns into a teenager because then you have to worry about every boy in the neighborhood. [With a little boy] you gotta worry about him breaking his arms and his legs and jumping. I was that kind of kid. I was a daredevil.”

Would he be cool with having twins?

“Yeah! Octomom it! Have nine at once. Whatever type of life God blesses you with, you have to take it and appreciate it from there … I always see every day you wake up as a blessing. And everything else is icing.

To have the success or the luxuries — automobiles, nice clothing — that’s stuff I never even fathomed. I grew up in a household where a good meal is what we really appreciated. For my life to be where it is now, I’m so grateful that even if it was taken away, I would be just as happy that I got the chance to experience it.”

On what kind of mom Mariah will be:

“She’s very nurturing. Nurturing and private. She makes me breakfast at any time and that’s, like, my favorite food, so it’ll be three in the morning and she’ll still make me breakfast … waffles! I’m a waffle guy. With the iron. She’s talented.”

On life with Mariah:

“We just have fun together! We wake up every morning just loving life and loving each other. Whatever comes at you is a plus. [Our perfect date is] just hanging out watching DVDs and eating popcorn. ‘Coming To America,’ Eddie Murphy movies.”

What’s next for Mariah?

“She’s finishing up her album in LA. It’s great. It’s a Christmas album. It’s going to be phenomenal. She has a lot of big surprises. I think they wanted her to be on ‘Idol.’ She definitely would be the perfect person to judge singing — she’s one of the greatest singers of all time.”

Anything else you want to tell us about all that baby talk, Nick?

“Nah. I’ll let her do it when she’s ready to do it. She’ll talk when she’s ready to talk.”
